A 59-year-old paraglider pilot died in an accident at Brauneck on Tuesday evening. According to the police, the woman, who came from the Munich area, started at around 7:15 p.m. from the Brauneck north launch site. The pilot was already in the air when her glider collapsed head-on, presumably due to a gust of wind. She went into a spin, lost altitude rapidly and hit the slope below the take-off site. The force of the impact injured her so badly that she had to be flown to the Großhadern Clinic in a rescue helicopter after she had been given first aid by other pilots and the Lenggries Mountain Rescue Service. There she succumbed to her severe internal injuries a little later.
