Braun-Pivet is “not in favor” of reform by amendment

The President of the National Assembly (Renaissance) Yaël Braun-Pivet is “not in favor” of the pension reform wanted by the government going through an amendment to the law on the Social Security budget.

“The government’s amendments must not in themselves carry a substantial reform”, estimated Thursday on France Info Yaël Braun-Pivet, who calls for a “comprehensive reform which must appear fair to our fellow citizens”. And to add: “We must both raise the retirement age or increase the number of quarters and work on long careers, hardship and so on, so we must carry out a global reform. »

“More consultation upstream of the texts”

“We must take the time to consult with the political groups and with the social partners and we must take the time for in-depth work for a global reform”, she added. “This is the new method to which I called on the government and to which the Prime Minister responded favorably in July”, with “more consultation upstream of the texts to succeed in building compromises”, underlined Ms. Braun-Pivet. A position that the manager will hold, according to her, on all subjects during the five-year term.

Emmanuel Macron had raised the possibility of passing a pension reform in an amendment to the Social Security financing project (PLFSS), which must be presented to the Council of Ministers on Monday. “I have never been in favor, and this is a constant with me, of the amendments which carry in themselves an important reform because they have not been appraised by the Council of State, they do not “have not been the subject of an impact study, they have not been worked on by parliamentarians upstream within their commission”, argued the President of the National Assembly.
