Brain research: Adults can concentrate better than 30 years ago – knowledge

Contrary to what is often claimed, a large study shows that children have not become more erratic on average due to the Internet and social media. So everything is OK?

Who doesn’t know it: you read a book or watch a film, then a push notification appears on your cell phone screen – and your concentration is over. Want to finish something without being distracted in between? This rarely works these days. The assumption remains that digital sensory overload shortens our attention span. But is this really the case? Apparently only to a limited extent: adults may even be able to concentrate a little better today than they were 30 years ago.
