Bosnia: man builds rotating house – panorama

When two partners argue over something, there are basically two ways to get happy again: You change the thing – or the partner. Vojin Kusic chose the former.

Kusic lives with his wife in a small single-family house painted light green in the town of Srbac in the north of Bosnia and Herzegovina. The 72-year-old once built it himself, like Kusic of the news agency Reuters told, the bedroom facing the sun, the living room facing the street, just as his wife had wished it to be. He later tore down a wall upstairs because his wife wanted to see from the bedroom who was entering the property. He was still rebuilding later when one of the adult children moved in upstairs.

“I was fed up with their complaints and the frequent renovations and said: I’ll build you a rotating house so you can turn it how you want,” said Kusic. In six years of work, only interrupted by a hospital stay, the self-taught constructed a rotating mechanism from the wheels of an old military transporter and electric motors under the house. At the push of a button, the house rotates on its own axis – in the slowest mode in 24 hours, in the fastest in 22 seconds. Meadows, a corn field, a grove and a path pass by.

For love, that’s of course the best reason to move mountains – or houses. Or maybe Kusic was just thinking in Mario Barth’s relationship advice cliché: Happy wife, happy life. One would have to ask his wife. But, according to Reuters, does not want to comment.
