Borussia Dortmund makes a profit boost – economy

Significantly higher transfer revenues have given Bundesliga football club Borussia Dortmund (BVB) a boost in profits. BVB generated a net profit of 2.5 million euros in the first quarter of the 2023/2024 financial year, as the professional club listed in the S-Dax announced on Friday. In the same period last year there was a deficit of five million euros. Excluding transfer revenue, sales fell by almost two percent to 102.3 million euros.

However, the club was able to make up for this with robust transfer business, which increased by around 33 percent to 82.3 million euros. In addition, revenues increased with the marketing of products. One transfer in particular had a particularly significant impact: in June, the club announced the move of 19-year-old midfielder Jude Bellingham to Real Madrid for 103 million euros.
