Borne unveils its plan on Monday to reduce CO2 emissions

Elisabeth Borne is due to unveil her action plan on Monday to accelerate the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions in France. Everyone will have to “do their part”, from individuals to big polluters. Matignon said on Saturday that the head of government would chair a working meeting of the National Council for Ecological Transition on Monday, a dialogue body bringing together NGOs, unions, employers, parliamentarians…

“The objective (…) will be to take stock of the progress of ecological planning, for which the Prime Minister is in charge”.

A form of “equity”

More specifically, according to a source at Matignon, Elisabeth Borne will present the government’s “action plan” to reduce emissions sector by sector (industry, transport, buildings, agriculture, energy, waste).

Carpooling, vehicle electrification, replacement of oil-fired boilers… France, which emitted 408 million tonnes of C02 equivalent last year, intends to reach 270 million in 2030.

The government is looking for a form of “equity” in terms of the efforts to be made. “The little ones do a little, the big ones do a lot and everyone does their part,” the source told Matignon.
