“It breaks my heart”: Lilly Becker told Amadeus about his father’s prison sentence

On Tuesday’s Piers Morgen talk show, Lilly Becker spoke about how she brought the news of his father’s prison sentence to their son Amadeus – and what her last words to Boris Becker were.
Last Friday was probably the blackest day in Boris Becker’s life. The tennis legend was sentenced to two years and six months in prison for delaying bankruptcy. On the same day, the three-time Wimbledon winner was taken to Wandsworth Prison in south London.
But it is not an easy time for the relatives either. Becker’s mother Elvira, his ex-wife Lilly – but above all his son Amadeus suffer. On Tuesday evening, Lilly Becker was a guest on British presenter Piers Morgan’s show and reported on how she had to break the bad news to the twelve-year-old.
It wasn’t until Monday, three days after the sentence was announced, that she spoke to her son about his father. She wouldn’t wish this experience on anyone. “It was the hardest thing I’ve ever had to do,” she said on Piers Morgan Uncensored. That hit Amadeus deeply: He couldn’t understand it “and still can’t,” reported the 45-year-old Dutch woman. “It breaks my heart but it’s made me a mother lion because I think we’ve been through enough as a family.”
Lilly continues to stand by Boris Becker
Although Lilly and Boris Becker separated in 2018 after nine years of marriage, the model is still behind his ex-husband. And plans to visit him regularly in prison with Amadeus: “I said to him, we’ll see each other next weekend if you want. (…) Of course I want to visit him with my son soon if Boris wants that.”
The ex-tennis star can apparently also rely on the support of his other family members: “We’re all sticking together now, his ex-wives, the children and his current girlfriend Lillian. The first thing we all did was contact each other and to speak,” said Lilly Becker.
As bad as the situation is for Boris Becker, the fact that his family is still with him should comfort him.
