Autumn doesn’t just bring colorful leaves and a romantic atmosphere. It also displaces summer reading and makes room for something new. The following books are worth reading for fall 2023.

If the Once books for the summer have been read and the mood changes from action-packed to romantic, new reading material is needed. The book trends for fall 2023 are therefore a little more thoughtful than the tips for summer. But crime novels and thrillers also go well with the more subdued time of year.

1. Book tip: “About cheerfulness in difficult times and the question of how important the seriousness of life should be to us” by Axel Hacke

Autumn makes us more thoughtful – which could be partly because we spend more time with ourselves at home on rainy days and the sun sets earlier. In order not to lose your good mood, you can the book by Axel Hacke worthwhile. The author has a chatty narrative style that entertains but also makes you think. Putting the seriousness of life aside every now and then and allowing laughter and cheerfulness to set in: this is what the book tries to provide guidance on.

2. Book tip: “The Monkey with the Watering Can – Buddhist Stories in 52 Weeks” by Michael Steinwand

Everyone should take the time from time to time to reflect on their own life. Books can be a great and helpful source of support and inspiration. Among other things, the book “The Monkey with the Watering Can – Buddhist Stories in 52 Weeks”. It contains wisdom and food for thought as well as stimulating questions for reflection and weekly impulses that are intended to encourage mindfulness, self-reflection and happiness in everyday life. Many readers will recognize themselves in the stories and can use rainy days to reflect. But you’ll have to find out for yourself what the whole thing has to do with a monkey and a watering can.

3. Book tip: “Dearest Daughter – You lie as well as me” by Claire Douglas

After the success of the books “Best Friend” and “Beautiful Girl”, best-selling author Claire Douglas has released the next must-read. In “Dearest Daughter” read about Saffy and her difficult relationship with her mother Lorna. A grisly discovery brings the two women back together: the bodies of two people are discovered on the family’s old property and the family’s darkest secret could come to light. The book is described in numerous reviews as an exciting and complex story and is therefore on our reading list of books for autumn 2023.

4. Book tip: “Seeing the dark for beginners” by Cecilia Klang

Jonas Jonasson describes it as “a great book! Full of warmth, humor and confidence that even the little things can make a difference in our big world.” And the novel actually shows “Seeing pity for beginners”that life is not over, even if your job, relationship and dreams fall apart. Especially in the darker seasons, many people find it helpful to read positive stories. The story of Tommy, who wants to boost his music career again with the help of his friends and an opera singer, is just right.

5. Book tip: “Be Useful” by Arnold Schwarzenegger

Arnold Schwarzenegger’s new book is less complex or profound than the other recommendations, but also worth reading. In “Be Useful” The Terminator gives pretty simple, but definitely important and useful tips on how to make your own life more useful. His seven tips for success, which are said to have helped him to make a career, are: “Close your mouth, open your mind.” It still sounds a bit abstract, but the book explains it comprehensibly and in a friendly and authentic Schwarzenegger manner. The Hollywood star’s fans are enthusiastic about the book – and it is definitely motivating, puts you in a good mood and distracts you from the bad weather.
