Bomb defused in Düsseldorf – thousands of people had to leave the danger area – Rheinland – Nachrichten

The city of Dusseldorf wrotethat “up to 13,000 people have to leave their homes within a 500 m radius (danger area A) around the site (Ahnfeldstrasse).” The police and public order office cordoned off the roads leading to it. After the area had been cleared, the bomb could be defused – at around 2.45 a.m. the city finally gave the all-clear: “The bomb has been defused!”

The city of Düsseldorf posted the following image via X/Twitter at 9:48 p.m., which according to the fire department showed the danger area:

Public transport was also affected by the evacuation: There were restrictions on rail traffic between Düsseldorf and Duisburg and from Düsseldorf main station to Cologne. Bahn AG train traffic was completely suspended for the duration of the defusing. Even buses and trams of the Rheinbahn could not run at times.

In the evening it was Website of the city of Düsseldorf temporarily not available – as it was said for technical reasons. But now it’s back online.
