Body of last victim found

The body of the last victim of the Baltimore bridge collapse has been found, Maryland state authorities said Tuesday. The “Dali”, a 300 meter long container ship, was embedded in a pile of the Francis Scott Key bridge in Baltimore on March 26, causing it to collapse.

Six workers who were carrying out road repair work on the bridge when it was struck by the ship were killed. Two others were able to be rescued. The victim whose body was found Tuesday was identified by authorities as Jose Mynor Lopez, a 37-year-old laborer from Baltimore.

One of the busiest ports in the United States

The collapse of the bridge led to the blocking of part of maritime transport in one of the busiest ports in the country. A temporary navigation corridor was opened to allow the passage of vessels carrying out rescue and clearance operations.

The US Federal Police (FBI) and the National Transportation Safety Board have opened an investigation into the accident.
