The “Barbie” producers at Mattel are planning a “Bob the Builder” film adaptation. Anthony Ramos is set to become the title character.
After the breathtaking success of the “Barbie” film with Margot Robbie (33) as the titular toy doll, the Mattel Group has clearly developed a taste for toy film adaptations. As the US industry magazine “The Hollywood Reporter” reports, the popular children’s series “Bob the Builder” (original title: “Bob the Builder”) is also in development as an animated feature film at Mattel Films. “In the Heights” star Anthony Ramos (32) will lend his voice to the main character.
That’s what the “Bob the Builder” movie is about
The animated children’s series “Bob the Builder” originally aired on the BBC’s children’s programming between 1999 and 2021. In each episode of the show, main character Bob (“Can we do this?” – “Yo, we can do it!”) and his friends take on a new construction project, with positive values such as conflict resolution and collaboration at the heart of the plot. In Germany the series ran on Super RTL.
In Mattel’s now planned “Bob the Builder” animated film, the main character Roberto “Bob” will accept a construction contract in the Caribbean island state of Puerto Rico, which is part of the USA. In doing so, Bob will get to know the country and its people better, and will also better understand what it means to build.
Bob speaker Ramos, who was most recently seen in films such as “A Star Is Born”, the aforementioned musical film “In the Heights” and “Dumb Money”, will also act as a producer on the project alongside musician Jennifer Lopez (54). .
