According to a recent report from Immunefi, from January to October 2023, over $1.41 billion was lost to hacks and fraud across 292 events.

In October 2023, just one month. Approximately $22.2 million in losses occurred, primarily due to hacking and fraud. The most frequently targeted blockchains during the period were BNB Chain and Ethereum, which accounted for 83.3% of the total losses among the targeted blockchains.

Immunefi revealBNB Chain experienced the highest number of individual attacks, with 11 incidents accounting for 45.8% of the total losses on the target network. Ethereum, on the other hand, experienced 9 incidents accounting for 37.5% of the total losses.

Avalanche followed with two incidents, accounting for 8.3%, in October, while Polygon and Fantom saw one incident, accounting for 4.2%, respectively.

“As of October 2023, hacking remains the leading cause of losses. Compared to fraud, scams and rug pulls, loss analysis shows that fraud accounted for 26.32% of total losses in October 2023, while hacking accounted for 73.68%.”

DeFi platforms remained the main focus of attacks in October, accounting for 100% of all losses. On the contrary No critical vulnerabilities have been reported in the CeFi platform.
