“Black Panther”, “Avengers”, series… Disney announcements on phase 5 at Comic-Con

Let’s go for phase 5! On the occasion of Comic-Con, Disney had some surprises in store for fans of Marvel superheroes on Saturday. The giant has announced the release of two new “Avengers” films and unveiled a first look at the sequel to Black Pantherpromising a lot of emotion.

Marvel movies have dominated box offices around the world in recent years, Avengers: Endgame of 2019 briefly becoming the highest-grossing film of all time with over $2.79 billion. “I wonder if you wouldn’t mind looking ahead a bit,” studio president Kevin Feige asked the gathering of superhero die-hards near the end of a presentation in San Diego.

Avengers: The Kang Dynasty and Avengers: Secret Wars will be released in theaters in 2025, he then indicated. The films will be in line with Avengers: Endgame, which created unprecedented media hype by bringing together storylines featured in all previously released Marvel films. The two new “Avengers” titles will conclude the upcoming “saga” of more than a dozen interconnected movies and TV series in the “Marvel Cinematic Universe,” Feige said. The recent Marvel franchise explored the concept of the “multiverse” popularized by superhero comics, in which infinite universes — and infinite versions of every hero and villain — exist side by side.

The Marvel presentation closed the biggest day of Comic-Con held in a hall with a capacity of 6,000 seats. It ended with the first trailer of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever – a sequel to the first film adaptation of a comic book to have been nominated for the Oscars for best picture -, which is scheduled to premiere on November 11.

A moving tribute to Chadwick Boseman

Director Ryan Coogler, on stage in San Diego with a troupe of percussionists and African dancerspaid a moving tribute to the star of the first film, the “fire, great Chadwick Boseman”.

The actor died of cancer in 2020 and his role is not reprized by another actor in the new film. “I promise you I can feel his hand on me right now,” Coogler said. “Chad is no longer with us physically but his spirit, his passion, his genius, his pride in his culture and the impact he has had on this industry will be felt forever,” he noted.

Rain of series on Disney Plus

Other movies announced by Disney on Saturday include Thunderbolts and Fantastic Fourexpected in 2024. Kevin Feige also announced that Blade would be ready in November 2023 and that the new title Captain America: New World Order would come in May 2024.

On the side of the small screen, a new trailer was unveiled for She-Hulk: Lawyeravailable on Disney+ from August 17, with a preview of Charlie Cox alias Daredevil, which will also return to service in the spring of 2024 [dans Daredevil : Born Again].

Actress Cobie Smulders will reprise her role as Agent Maria Hill in the series Secret Invasionexpected in the spring of 2023.
