Biofuel factory, millions on the table… Emmanuel Macron’s plan to boost the green plane

Develop new engines, new aircraft and biofuels substitutable for kerosene. This is the objective of the series of investments unveiled by Emmanuel Macron this Friday, three days before the opening of the Bourge Air Showt. An envelope of 300 million euros per year will be devoted over the period 2024-2030 to the “green aircraft” sector, indicated the Head of State during the visit to a factory of the engine manufacturer Safran, in Villaroche (Seine-et-Marne).

The main announcement of this plan is the upcoming installation of a biofuel plant in the Pyrénées-Atlantiques, in Lacq, near Pau. This site called BioTJET, carried by the company Elyse Energy, “will open in Lacq in a region that knows energy well” and “will create 700 direct jobs” or 100 on the site and 600 on all recycling players , affirmed the President of the Republic.

He added that 200 million of public and private money would be allocated to the development of small electric or hydrogen planes and that a comparable sum would go to biofuels for aviation.
