Billboard Music Awards 2022: Drake and Olivia Rodrigo clean up
Olivia Rodrigo now has seven Billboard Music Awards to her name

The 2022 Billboard Music Awards were presented last night. Drake and Olivia Rodrigo were the winners. Kanye West also convinced. The favorite The Weeknd went almost empty-handed.
During the night from Sunday to Monday, this year’s Billboard Music Awards were presented in the famous MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vages. And although The Weeknd was actually the favorite with 17 nominations for the renowned music award, other artists turned out to be the big winners over the course of the show. The Canadian singer tended to win in fringe categories like Top R&B Male Artist.
Ye couldn’t prevail against Drake
The young singer Olivia Rodrigo, who released her debut album “Sour” last year, won the most awards of the evening with seven trophies. Among other things, she cleared the important categories as “Top New Artist” and “Top Female Artist”. The second most prizes were actually won by the rapper Kanye West, who now only wants to be called Ye and as such also received the awards in Las Vegas. He received a total of six awards, albeit mostly in rather insignificant categories such as “Top Christian Artist” or “Top Gospel Artist”.
Drake wins top categories at Billboard Music Awards
His rap colleague Drake was particularly convincing in the important categories. He was honored as “Top Artist”, “Top Male Artist”, “Top Rap Artist” and “Top Rap Male Artist”. The Canadian also released his album Certified Lover Boy last year, which went to number one in the US, UK and his native Canada. In this country there was still a third place for Drake. With his triumph this year, the rapper is also the artist with the most Billboard awards: he has already won a total of 34 trophies.
