After the House of Representatives and Senate approved the new military aid for Ukraine, US President Biden has now also signed the legislative package. The military equipment will be made available “in the next few hours”.
US President Joe Biden has signed the legislative package with billions in aid for Ukraine, which was attacked by Russia. “I just signed the national security package that passed the House of Representatives over the weekend and the Senate yesterday. It will make America safer. It will make the world safer,” Biden said during a speech at the White House.
“Now we have to act quickly, and that’s what we’re doing,” said the US President and announced that he wanted to immediately supply Ukraine with military equipment: “In the next few hours” they will begin to supply anti-aircraft equipment, artillery, Sending missile systems and armored vehicles to Ukraine, said Biden.
Also aid for Israel, Gaza Strip and Taiwan
The Senate only approved the aid package worth 95 billion US dollars (almost 89 billion euros) on Tuesday evening. It had previously been stuck in the House of Representatives for months.
Previous US aid to Ukraine had previously expired. Since the end of last year, new support from the USA has largely been absent. Kiev is urgently dependent on the help. “America stands with our friends. We stand against dictators,” Biden said. The USA would not give in to Kremlin boss Vladimir Putin.
In addition to $61 billion for Ukraine, $26 billion in war aid for Israel and $26 billion in humanitarian support for the suffering population in the Gaza Strip, as well as $8 billion for Taiwan and the Indo-Pacific region to respond to the threat from China.
