Bringing children to daycare, bringing potting soil home: Elina Josiger has been doing all her transport tasks with the cargo bike for six years. She loves the means of transport – and saves a lot of money at the same time.
Shopping in the supermarket, transporting the children or getting around every day – when it comes to coping with everyday tasks, most people first think of cars. For Elina Josiger, 34 years old, that was never an option: six years ago she bought a cargo bike. “Back then I was just looking for a way to transport my daughter.” She used to travel by bus, train or bicycle, but she has never owned a car. She now lives with her husband and three children in Frankfurt am Main – a big city with a lot of traffic. In everyday life, the cargo bike is the complete car replacement for them, be it for the trip to kindergarten or for transporting potting soil. “I don’t miss the car a bit – if we really need one, for example to move, we just use car sharing.”
