Things aren’t going well for the German biathletes at the shooting range. Benedikt Doll and Philipp Nawrath in particular have problems. The Norwegian competition is back with a triple success.

The German biathletes have to take part in the Norwegian gala performance due to poor shooting performance Lenzerheide could not repeat the strong team result from the sprint race. In the Scandinavians’ triple success, Philipp Horn was the best German in seventh place in the pursuit over 12.5 kilometers.

The 29-year-old missed three times in four shooting sessions. The new overall World Cup leader Johannes Thingnes Bö (3) secured victory ahead of Endre Strömsheim (2) and Sturla Holm Laegreid (1).

Johannes Kühn managed a strong final lap. After four penalty laps he ended up in ninth place, with Justus Strelow crossing the finish line directly behind him. Strelow only missed one target and worked his way up a total of eight places.

Problems at the shooting range

Benedikt Doll, who won at the start in Lenzerheide, Switzerland, and his teammate Philipp Nawrath had major problems on the shooting range. The two had to do seven extra laps. The duo ended up in 17th and 18th place. David Zobel also fought his way up eight places and finished 31st with three penalties.

“It started a bit on the track and I had to really struggle to keep up,” said Doll in a ZDF interview. “And at the shooting range it was the case that what had worked on its own yesterday didn’t work at all. It was a fight and I was missing the peace. That’s biathlon.”
