Denise Herrmann-Wick has already delivered twice as a party heater. After two World Championship medals, number three could follow in the best-case scenario.

Denise Herrmann-Wick has already given away one of her two World Cup mascots. “A friend of mine from Berlin was there. The son is my biggest fan and was my favorite dance partner at our wedding, he gets him,” said Germany’s best biathlon after silver in the Oberhof pursuit.

At the home World Championships on the Rennsteig, everything is going according to plan for the Saxon, her form has worked perfectly. Before the individual on Wednesday (2.30 p.m. / ARD and Eurosport), she should recall the memories of a year ago when she became Olympic champion over the 15 kilometers in Beijing.

Herrmann-Wick: First relaxation, then killer mode

“I’ll give everything. But everything that comes now is an encore,” said the sprint world champion from Oberhof. The most traditional biathlon race is always a special competition. “Everything can be done individually, but nothing has to be. I’m trying to enjoy it now and go into the race relaxed. But when you’re at the start, you’re back in killer mode,” said Herrmann-Wick.

She would have no objection to a third award ceremony in Oberhof’s Kurpark. “Walking down the catwalk, the team and the fans: you can’t get enough of the feeling. But you shouldn’t forget what it takes to be allowed to walk,” said the three-time world champion.
