Betty White would have turned 100 in a good two weeks – now the last “Golden Girl” has died. The sympathy is great: In addition to US President Joe Biden, other celebrities expressed their grief – including the US military.
Several celebrities, including US President Joe Biden, reacted with great condolence to the death of US actress Betty White. White, best known from the sitcom “Golden Girls”, who would have turned 100 on January 17th, died at the age of 99, as US media reported on Friday, citing her manager Jeff Witjas. “Although Betty was going to be 100 years old, I thought she would live forever,” Vitjas told People magazine. “I will miss her terribly.”

Born in 1922 in the US state of Illinois, White got her first small roles on television and in the theater immediately after high school in the late 30s and 40s, later she mainly appeared in talk shows and game shows. Even after the “Golden Girls” she continued to get roles in TV and cinema and, around 2010, caused high ratings and great enthusiasm as the presenter of the legendary TV show “Saturday Night Live”.
She also worked as a producer and has won dozens of awards, including numerous Emmys. She worked in the film and television business for more than 75 years, making it into the Guinness Book of Records – as a TV entertainer with the longest career. White was married three times and had no children.

The actress with the characteristic white-haired grandma look and quick-witted humor showed herself to be fit, happy and curious and, despite all her successes, modest.
