Best cinema in Bavaria: top award for city cinemas – Munich

The City-Kinos in Munich can call themselves the best cinema in Bavaria. When awarding the promotional prizes for the Bavarian program cinemas, Holger Trapp and Bruno Börger received the top prize of 30,000 euros for their City and Atelier halls. This was announced by the Film-Fernseh-Fonds Bayern (FFF). The venue on Sonnenstraße is an example of what the art house cinema of the future can look like, the statement said.

A total of 91 Bavarian arthouse cinemas will receive a record amount of funding: 1.35 million euros. The aim of FFF cinema funding is to ensure that there are attractive venues and a high-quality range of programs everywhere in Bavaria. The awards specifically recognize the commitment of the cinemas in the extremely difficult pandemic year 2021. “The year 2021 was one of the hardest for the cinemas since the beginning of film history,” says FFF Managing Director Dorothee Erpenstein. “I would like to thank all shareholders of FFF Bayern for providing the funds and especially the Free State of Bavaria, which has increased the funds so significantly with the State Ministry for Digital.” The award ceremony will take place on November 18th in Würzburg.
