Numerous residents in Berlin and Brandenburg were woken up by a warning that night: A wild cat is said to be on the move – possibly a lioness.

On a wild animal that escaped in the night south of According to the police, it could be a lioness in Berlin. A police spokesman said on Thursday in Brandenburg an der Havel. Residents have been warned not to leave their homes.

As the police reported early in the morning at the request of the German Press Agency, emergency services were looking for the animal with helicopters in Kleinmachnow and neighboring communities. Among other things, the population was warned with the help of warning apps. According to local residents, at least one helicopter was operating over the city throughout the night.

Police in Berlin learn from witnesses of escaped wildcat

According to the police, they found out about the wild animal from witnesses. They recorded videos of the big cat chasing and killing a wild boar.

Kleinmachnow is located on the southern outskirts of Berlin. The city has around 20,000 inhabitants.
