“Help! Your children”: Activists smeared the facade of the Federal Chancellery with orange paint. The police temporarily arrest 16 people.

Activists of the last generation destroyed the facade of the building on Saturday morning Federal Chancellery smeared with orange paint. A photo published by the protest group shows a large lettering with the words “Help! Your children” and numerous handprints. Several activists lay on the ground in front of the wall, others sat, as can be seen in the photo.

According to the Berlin police, 16 people between the ages of 13 and 16 were temporarily arrested to check their identities. The police measures are still ongoing. The federal police have initiated an investigation on suspicion of damage to property.

Those involved are calling on the federal government to become aware of its responsibility for the young generation with regard to climate change and to “finally meet it,” as it was said in a statement from Last Generation.
