Burning stalls: Christmas market at Alexanderplatz evacuated
Two stalls went up in flames that evening. One operator was slightly injured. The cause of fire was unclear for the moment.
The Christmas market on Berlin’s Alexanderplatz was evacuated and closed early after a fire. A police spokesman said one person was taken to hospital with minor injuries after two stalls burst into flames in the evening. Accordingly, the injured person is probably the operator of one of the wooden stalls that caught fire.
“The fire has been extinguished,” the Berlin fire department announced via the X news service around half an hour after the fire broke out. “The scene is under control!” The cause of the fire was initially unclear, but the police are investigating. The “Bild” (online) first reported on the incident.
