Berlin Airport: Get on the plane faster – travel

Sparsely manned check-in counters, long queues at the security checkpoints and sometimes enormous problems at baggage claim – this summer holidaymakers at the airport had to have particularly strong nerves. Mainly because there are too few ground staff, several hundred flights were canceled across Europe in the first half of the year – and there is still no solution to the problem in sight. An attempt to recruit employees in Turkey failed. The efforts of many airports to make the processes smoother by expanding self-check-in or making it easier to drop off luggage the day before also proved to be insufficient. Berlin-Brandenburg Airport (BER) is now taking a different approach: in future you can book time slots there for going through the security checkpoint. A new approach which, according to the company, has not yet been practiced in this form at any other European airport.
