Unknown people attacked a money transporter on the A20 near Gützkow on Thursday. They fled the scene in their own van and set fire to the two vehicles they had left behind. The getaway vehicle has since been found.
The money transporter was robbed in the morning at the A20 junction near Gützkow (West Pomerania-Greifswald). According to the police, the perpetrators were active with two vehicles. They set the transporter and one of the vehicles on fire and fled with the loot in another transporter. According to previous knowledge, there was an amount in the millions in the stolen cash boxes. No one was injured in the robbery, the two drivers of the money transporter could already be heard.

Getaway vehicle found in wooded area at noon
The getaway vehicle, a Mercedes van with a red and white construction marking over the rear bumper, was also found burnt out just a few kilometers away in a forest south of Müssentin (Vorpommern-Greifswald district). There was a high probability that another escape vehicle was ready to flee. In addition to the burned-out getaway car, broken and burned-out cash boxes were also found. Previously, vehicles were stopped and checked in the area of the crime scene and possible escape directions. The large-scale search for the perpetrators continues. Police are appealing for information from witnesses to the incident. The junction at Gützkow remains temporarily closed as a result of the attack.
Robbery probably perpetrated by professionally organized criminals
According to initial findings by the police, the robbers planned and prepared the robbery well. For example, they must have known that security was on this tour. That is why, according to the police, they are apparently professionally organized criminals. There should have been two perpetrators. They were dressed in black, masked and armed with submachine guns. According to the police, they forced the money transporter to stop and used massive concrete blocks that had only been set up in the morning on the slip road from the 111 federal highway to the 20 highway near Gützkow.

So the money transporter could be wedged. The way to the rear was also cut off with a car, so that an escape was no longer possible. The robbers immediately set the vehicle on fire. They then tried to open the money transporter – which they succeeded. After setting fire in the rear of the money transporter, the robbers fled in their getaway vehicle in the direction of Neubrandenburg. Only then did the employees of the damaged valuables transport company leave the transporter.
