“Before the show, I had never done a cover,” says Elio, who will sing Bigflo and Oli

When Elio took to his first big stage, when he was only 13 years old, he probably had no idea that one day the spotlights of The Voice would be aimed at him. “I was so stressed that I touched all the strings of my guitar, just before starting, and it completely out of tune, laughs this 19-year-old Montpellier resident. I had to retune it, live. That was it, my arrival in the deep end! Very early on, music will be, for Elio, an “outlet”. Then will come the love of rap, in high school, which will allow him, more than any other style, “to express [ses] feelings,” he says.

While pursuing his little path as a musician, a few months ago, someone close to TF1’s telecrochet production team spotted a video of Elio, where he performs, on guitar, one of his creations. Because Elio has always been writing and composing. “Never before The VoiceI hadn’t done a cover [reprise] he smiles. The performance of the 19-year-old young man immediately caught the eye of the casters, who invited him to appear, at the last minute, at the Blind Auditions. “When I arrived, I was told that there were no more places in the teams, and that no one would be taken! he smiles. “So I went there without complexes! I was happy to reveal a part of my universe. »

“We did 12,000 km by bike”, with a friend

Challenges, Elio knows a lot about them. As soon as he got his baccalaureate, at 17, the young man got on his bicycle, for a tour of Europe, with a friend. “We cycled 12,000 km, we crossed 26 countries, lists this insatiable globetrotter. It was an amazing experience. Even if we have known, it is true, some misadventures. Especially the freezing cold in Finland. But never, in this crazy journey, did he forget the music.

“I wrote all the time, from morning to night, even on my bike,” he says. Discovering new landscapes every day, facing new adventures, meeting different people, that inspired me. If the desire to discover the world never ceases to itch, Elio has put down his suitcase in Montpellier, where he is studying sports management at university. But not sure that the lectures retain him. His thing is music. “I will continue my studies, of course, he confides. But if I don’t manage to do something in music, it would be a failure for me. Saturday, on TF1, he will perform Slut, from Bigflo and Oli. In front of Bigflo and Oli. That too is a great challenge.
