Bedbug insecticide causing death?

A man died on October 29 in a Lyon hospital. “A Sniper brand product, discovered at the deceased’s home”, could have had a role in this death, explains the Lyon prosecutor’s office, which confirms information fromActu.fr.

Used against bedbugs, it is manufactured “in China, but forbidden within the European Union due to its excessive toxicity,” adds the prosecution. “In order to verify whether the use of this toxic product could have contributed to the death of this patient”, an investigation was opened for facts likely to be qualified as “involuntary homicide”, “endangering life of others” and “making available on the market an unauthorized biocidal product”.

It was entrusted to the Departmental Directorate of Public Security (DDSP) of Rhône. In this context, investigators are looking for the conditions of acquisition of such a product likely to have been sold to other people.
