Become president of the fire brigade, he thanks 37 years later the one who had saved him after a fall in a well

In a life, there are events that mark and that we do not forget. This is what happened to Jérôme Blasquez, one day in March 1986, then a little boy, he fell with another child, into a 20-meter well, in the town of Varilhes, in Ariège, between Pamiers and Faith.

That day, the two boys aged 5 and 7 were rescued by six firefighters using rescue ropes and straps. Thirty-seven years later, fate certainly wanted one of these rescuers, Daniel Lagarde, to cross paths with Jérôme Blasquez again during a professional meeting.

Because, in the meantime, the latter, now elected departmental councilor, took the presidency of the departmental fire and rescue service of the department which tells this story on his facebook page. Recalling their common memory, the firefighter told him that the day of the rescue he had lost a knife in the well. On the occasion of Sainte-Barbe, the patron saint of firefighters, Jérôme Blasquez took the opportunity to give her a knife, with the date of the rescue engraved on it.
