On October 4th, Netflix will release the new documentary series “Beckham”. It focuses primarily on David Beckham’s younger years.
The series offers insights into the career and mental life of the global star and also shows the story behind the public figure of Victoria Beckham’s husband (49). His youth among the working class in East London is also examined in detail, which laid the foundation for his ambition in the field of sport and his striving for recognition and fame.
Netflix promises “unprecedented access to David, his wife Victoria, his family, his friends and his teammates.” “Beckham” is an intimate portrait of a man and his life with many ups and downs as well as a chronicle of late modern sports and celebrity culture. Responsible for the four episodes are Oscar winner and filmmaker Fisher Stevens (59, “The Bay”) and producer John Battsek (60, “One Day in September”), who has also won an Oscar.

Back in July, both Netflix and Beckham announced via Instagram that a joint documentary was in the works that would primarily examine his childhood and early career. “The series will feature unseen archival footage, untold stories, and interviews with the people who have been part of my journey,” Beckham wrote on his Instagram post at the time. Back then, he shared pictures of himself as a young professional, as a child and today.
