Has the Trump organization sneaked credit and committed tax fraud? Extensive investigations are about this question – to the annoyance of ex-US President Trump. Now he has sued the New York attorney general.
Donald Trump is taking legal action against the New York attorney general Letitia James, who is investigating the ex-president and his corporate conglomerate. A related lawsuit has been filed in Albany, New York, United States.
“Your mission is guided solely by political animosity and the desire to harass, intimidate and retaliate against a private individual whom you consider a political opponent,” the lawyers wrote of James.
New York Attorney General James: “Our investigation will continue undeterred.”

The comprehensive investigation concerns, among other things, the suspicion that Trump’s company has made false statements about the value of their real estate in order to get loans or to gain price advantages. Tax fraud is also said to have occurred. Trump had already called the investigation a “witch hunt” in the past. Among other things, the Republican wants to ensure that the Democratic Attorney General James is no longer allowed to investigate him.

“The Trump Organization has repeatedly tried to delay our investigations into its dealings, and now Donald Trump and his company of the same name have filed a lawsuit to obstruct this investigation,” responded Attorney General James. “Our investigation will continue undeterred, because no one is above the law, not even someone who goes by the Trump name.”
