BBC: Who is Samir Shah, the new chairman? – Media

A statue of George Orwell stands in front of the BBC Broadcasting House in London. Next to it, a sentence from the author is carved in stone: “If freedom means anything at all, it is the right to tell people what they don’t want to hear.” It looks like it is now up to Samir Shah, 71, to defend this freedom. The media manager should be new Chairman of the BBC and thus head of the supervisory board of what is probably the most famous public broadcaster in the world.
