The sun didn’t make it through the high fog that day. Here in the border area of the Altötting and Traunstein districts, where Upper Bavaria can seem more empty than almost anywhere else, the temperatures are below zero. In the small community of Kirchweidach there is hardly any smoke from the chimney, but it will be warm in all the single-family and semi-detached houses, and the young tomato plants in the huge greenhouses north of the tracks will not have to freeze either.
