Bavaria’s police officers use Tasers more often – Bavaria

In the past year, Bavarian police officers have used electric shock guns, commonly called “Tasers,” more frequently during operations. As the Ministry of the Interior responded to the request of South German newspaper announced that there were 100 corresponding operational situations. For comparison: two years ago, the “distance electro-impulse devices”, as they are officially called, were only used half as often, in 51 cases. In most of the 100 operations in 2023, the officers only threatened to use the weapons. So far they only have special units available in the Free State. The German Police Union (DPolG) in Bavaria would like Tasers to be regularly available to officers in the long term, i.e. to all inspections and patrols.
