Bavarian cult director: Franz Xaver Bogner turns 75 – Munich

What connects the Bavarian film director Franz Xaver Bogner with the artist and polymath Leonardo da Vinci? On the one hand, there is the flowing hair, which flows even more on the Italian than on the man from – currently – Neubiberg. On the other hand, there are two men who offered the two of them tough competition in the fight for first place, Michelangelo with Leonardo da Vinci and Helmut Dietl with Bogner. Last but not least, and by no means least important, what characterizes both works is the fact that each of them has created such an iconic work that everything else in public perception disappears into its shadow: for da Vinci it was the Mona Lisa and for Franz Xaver Bogner the TV series “Somehow and Anyway”. One worked in the 15th century, the other is celebrating his 75th birthday this Monday.
