Bavaria wants more solar systems on listed properties – Bavaria

In the fight against the energy crisis, the Free State of Bavaria wants to enable photovoltaic systems to a greater extent in the future, including on listed properties. Owners of such buildings should receive a subsidy for the additional effort if they adapt the photovoltaic systems in order to protect them – for example in the color design or the materials, according to a response from the Bavarian Ministry of Science to a request from the Greens in the state parliament. “The Bavarian State Office for the Preservation of Monuments therefore emphatically endorses the basic eligibility of planning and the monument-related additional effort for monument-appropriate PV systems,” says the ministry’s response.

Especially the roofs of historic buildings that are listed as monuments often offer plenty of space for photovoltaics, said the Green Party leader in the state parliament, Katharina Schulze. However, monument protection has so far stood in the way. “The word photovoltaic has not been used here before,” said Schulze. She therefore also demanded a change in the monument protection legislation and announced a corresponding initiative by her parliamentary group before the state elections next year.
