Bavaria: Union criticizes the phased plan – Bavaria

The Bavarian Education and Science Union (GEW) has criticized the new step-by-step plan for salary adjustments for teachers as correct but insufficient. “We had asked for transparency and got it,” said state chairwoman Martina Borgendale on Wednesday.

The day before, the state government had decided on the roadmap for better pay for primary and secondary school teachers, by 2028 they should be classified in salary group A 13. The GEW sees it positively that the school types are not played off against each other. But: Five years are long, said Borgendale. The primary and secondary school teaching positions must now become more attractive in order to “effectively counteract the massive shortage of teachers”.
