Bavaria: Train traffic regionally restricted after severe weather – Bavaria

After the storm, train traffic has largely returned to normal in large parts of Bavaria. In Franconia, however, there were still “significant disruptions” on Tuesday morning, according to Deutsche Bahn. Due to repairs to the overhead line between Nuremberg and Bamberg, the S-Bahn between Fürth and Eltersdorf is interrupted. Regional trains are no longer available or only run parts of the route. The railway announced that replacement traffic was not possible.

A storm slowed down long-distance rail traffic in Germany on Monday evening, covered roofs and damaged cars as well as power and telephone lines. Several people were injured by fallen trees. Individual railway lines were closed and trains were rerouted, including between Nuremberg and Erfurt. Those affected by the disruption included Hesse, Rhineland-Palatinate, Baden-Württemberg, Bavaria, North Rhine-Westphalia and Lower Saxony.

Particularly in northern Bavaria, there were more calls during the night due to the storm because of fallen trees that were blocking roads. In Upper Bavaria, a car carrying four young people overturned on Autobahn 9 after the driver lost control of the car on wet roads near Reichertshofen (Pfaffenhofen district), according to the police. Three of the inmates were injured and taken to hospitals.
