The Bavarian SPD leader Ronja Endres has failed in her ambitions to run for the European Parliament. The 37-year-old, who has formed a dual SPD leadership with Florian von Brunn since 2021, was defeated in a candidacy in Regensburg by the incumbent Brussels MP Thomas Rudner. The freestyle at the Upper Palatinate party conference on Saturday was a preliminary stage in finding candidates before proposals from all seven administrative districts are submitted for the nationwide SPD list.
