Bavaria: smuggler drops 22 people at the bus stop – Bavaria

An unknown smuggler dropped 22 people – including twelve children – at a bus stop in Neuötting-Alzgern (district of Altötting) early on Saturday morning. After a police patrol found six of them at the bus stop near the A94, the officers found the rest of the people in the immediate vicinity, some of them hypothermic, according to the federal police. Some of them therefore hid in a bush. They were treated by rescue workers, but no one had to go to the hospital.

All 22 suspected smuggled people were brought to a police station. There they are first taken care of and given an interpreter, said a spokeswoman for the federal police in Freilassing. According to the police, the smuggled people were ten adults and twelve children from Turkey.

On Thursday night there was an accident near Marktl in the district of Altötting after pursuing a suspected smuggler. In addition to the driver, there were four Turkish nationals in the vehicle, as the federal police announced on Friday. Accordingly, the officials wanted to check the vehicle at the German-Austrian border crossing. The driver then accelerated and fled at significantly excessive speed.
