Crisis again? Or still? Not only in the gastronomy and hotel industry would they be happy about friendlier times – and yet perhaps very special. According to a survey by the lobby association Dehoga at the beginning of October, 65.3 percent of companies in Bavaria fear for their existence. The industry is experiencing “an unprecedented cost explosion in energy, food and staff”. Even before that, times were difficult: Sometimes there were no cooks and service staff, sometimes one last village inn closed again due to demographic change. Then came the pandemic, closures and financial losses – and now a war in Europe, rising prices and guests who have to save more themselves. Five hoteliers, innkeepers and club operators tell what remains of years of permanent crisis.
