Bavaria promotes the integration of foreign nursing staff – Bavaria

The state government is funding innovative integration projects for nursing staff from abroad with five million euros. The Ministry of Social Affairs and the Ministry of Health jointly announced on Monday that nursing specialists from abroad are urgently needed. However, foreign skilled workers often face special challenges “such as language barriers, cultural differences or the lack of a network.”

The funding is financed from the European Social Fund Plus and state funds. Social Minister Ulrike Scharf (CSU) said that sufficient skilled workers were needed “to ensure humane care for people in Bavaria”. The focus is particularly on “the rapid integration of foreign skilled workers”: “We need every caring hand!”

Health and Nursing Minister Klaus Holetschek (CSU) added that nursing is no longer possible without foreign skilled workers. There are currently around 260,000 nursing staff working in Bavaria, around 20 percent of whom come from abroad. Further training providers can submit innovative project concepts using the so-called expression of interest process until January 15th. More information about the conditions is available online.
