A mother and her eleven-year-old daughter died in a tragic truck accident in the city center on Friday. The nine-year-old son is still being treated in hospital.

After After an accident involving a truck in downtown Passau, the injured nine-year-old’s health is said to be unchanged. He is still being treated in hospital, a police spokesman said. His 37-year-old mother died at the scene of the accident on Friday, and his eleven-year-old sister later died of her injuries in the clinic.

In the Lower Bavarian city, a truck hit several pedestrians on Friday morning. The 63-year-old truck driver was on a delivery trip and, according to initial police findings, wanted to avoid a stationary bus – and drove onto the sidewalk to do so.

In addition to the nine-year-old boy, two women aged 70 and 45 were taken to the hospital. The 63-year-old truck driver is now in police custody after receiving medical treatment.
