Bavaria: Organic beer and water conservation – Bavaria

At Neumarkter Lammsbräu they calculated exactly to the euro what the 188 suppliers from whom the brewery sources organic grain and organic raw materials are doing for the groundwater.

Organic farming is much more sustainable than conventional farming; thanks to their avoidance of artificial fertilizers and chemical plant protection, organic farmers work in a much more friendly manner for nature and biodiversity than their conventional colleagues. This is the credo of organic farmers and many consumers. You can also see it that way at Neumarkter Lammsbräu. The Upper Palatinate brewery was the first in Germany to switch to organic in the 1980s and sources all of its raw materials from organic farmers in Bavaria. “Our organic farmers do great things,” says owner and managing director Johannes Ehrnsperger. “They not only grow the best organic food, but also effectively protect the livelihoods of the people in the region.”
