Bavaria: Figures stolen from Ludwig Erhard – Bavaria

Two sculptures showing the former Chancellor have been stolen in front of the Ludwig Erhard Center in Fürth. The plastic sculptures, which are about 50 centimeters tall, have a total value of several hundred euros, the police said in Nuremberg on Friday. The sculptures were created as part of a serial work of art by the sculptor Ottmar Hörl. The police are looking for witnesses to the theft.

Ludwig Erhard was born in Fürth in 1897 and grew up there. In 1949 he was appointed the first Economics Minister of the Federal Republic of Germany under Chancellor Konrad Adenauer. After Adenauer’s resignation in 1963, Erhard was elected Chancellor and remained in office until 1966.
