Bavaria: FDP MP Hacker admits mistakes – Bavaria

The Bayreuth FDP member of the Bundestag Thomas Hacker has admitted to errors in connection with public prosecutor’s investigations into a tax matter against him. Hacker said on Wednesday that he had submitted two tax returns too late, and that alone was enough for the judiciary to have an initial suspicion. The reason for the approximately one and a half year delay was a legal dispute over the determination of the status as a freelancer.

Hacker was involved in a tax office and had continued to work there alongside his political activities. Therefore, it had to be clarified whether his status at this time was that of a freelancer or an employee subject to social security contributions. Last week, the Bundestag lifted Thomas Hacker’s immunity to enable the public prosecutor’s investigations.
