Bavaria: Edmund Stoiber turns 80 – an interview – Bavaria

Today the CSU can only dream of Edmund Stoiber’s election results. Nevertheless, 14 years ago he had to go against his will. A conversation with someone who is at peace with himself – and who would still do some things differently today.

It’s almost the same as it used to be. You have an appointment with Edmund Stoiber. And wait a minute. Everyone always had to wait for Edmund Stoiber. Not because he was impolite and didn’t care about the people he was talking to. But because he was often carried away by the problem at hand, by his ideas, which often flashed through his head in a flash and which he absolutely had to spread, by details that he had to explain in so much detail to his counterpart who finally understands how everything is interrelated. Talks with Edmund Stoiber therefore almost always started later than agreed and lasted longer than agreed. The same thing happened to the next interlocutor.
