A mountaineer from Upper Bavaria fell and died on a hike in the Chiemgau Alps. As the police announced on Monday, the experienced alpinist set off on a demanding tour with his dog and a friend on the Falkenstein near Inzell on Sunday. During the hike, his acquaintance had lost sight of the man and the dog. When the 28-year-old did not show up at an agreed meeting point, his friend made an emergency call.
A helicopter crew found the body of the 28-year-old from the Mühldorf am Inn district on Sunday. He was reported to have fallen about 150 meters down steep, rocky terrain. The man’s dog also died in the fall. Police and prosecutors are investigating how the accident happened.
