Bavaria: Car insurance is cheaper for almost a million drivers – Bavaria

Around 980,000 motorists in Bavaria will be classified more favorably in liability insurance in the coming year. The General Association of the German Insurance Industry (GDV) has looked at where motorists cause particularly high and expensive damage and where it rarely crashes. This would result in better classifications for 15 of the 97 Bavarian vehicle registration districts, among other things for Landshut, Regensburg and the districts of Bayreuth and Rosenheim, the GDV announced on Thursday.

For 620,000 drivers in ten districts, on the other hand, the regional class is increasing, including in Neu-Ulm, Fürth and Aschaffenburg. “Motorists in Lichtenfels achieved the best damage balance, in Augsburg the damage balance was the worst.”

According to the General Association, there are fewer changes in comprehensive insurance: Of the approximately 6.2 million comprehensive insurance policyholders, around 530,000 will be classified in higher regional classes, and 100,000 will have better classifications in the future.

The regional classes reflect the damage balance of the 412 German registration districts and are calculated once a year by the GDV. The decisive factor here is not the place of the accident, but the place of residence of the vehicle owner. Insurance companies can use the regional statistics immediately for new contracts and from the next insurance year onwards for existing contracts.
