A man jumped from a pedestrian bridge into the Danube in Swabia, triggering a major police operation. The 29-year-old later told the police that he jumped from bridges as a hobby and did sports, the police said on Monday. He behaved “extremely uncooperative and aggressive” on Sunday. He therefore showed no understanding of the consequences of his jump.
The man was taken to hospital because of possible hypothermia at an outside temperature of six degrees. Otherwise, he apparently remained uninjured when he jumped into the approximately three meter deep Danube. According to a spokeswoman, the police checked whether the 29-year-old could be billed for the costs of the operation with more than 60 firefighters, DLRG, rescue services and water rescue services.
